Alumnus Returns for Legacy Laureate Award and Lecture

Published on 10/17/2011 11:39:00 AM

The School of Education hosted a lecture by alumnus and Headmaster of The English High School in Boston, Dr. Sito Narcisse, titled “Challenges of Turning Around a Troubled School,” on Thursday, October 13. During his visit, Dr. Narcisse was also recognized by the University of Pittsburgh and Chancellor Nordenberg as a 2011 Legacy Laureate, one of the University’s most distinguished alumni awards.

Narcisse’s lecture focused on how he helped transform The English High School – the first public high school in the United States – by decreasing its dropout rate, increasing the graduation rate, and raising all academic standards. Dr. Narcisse earned his Doctor of Education in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007.
