Shawn Marcus Davis, a 34-year-old research specialist in the School of Education’s Department of Instruction and Learning, died suddenly on January 1, 2012, while visiting family members and friends in Denton, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Renee Cox; his mother, Jean Davis; his sister, Vanessa Sadler; his grandmother, Catherine Davis; his nieces, Catlyn and Lily Davis; his nephew, Blake LaPrade, and several uncles, aunts and in-laws.
On Thursday, January 19, a memorial service will be held to celebrate Shawn's life at the Union Project, 801 N. Negley Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. The service will take place from 7-9 p.m. and includes speakers, special musical performances, and treasured images from Shawn's life. Light refreshments will be served and a toast made in his honor.
Flowers may be sent to the Union Project. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to support Shawn's family and favorite causes.
