The
Western Pa Writing Project (WPWP) is hosting the Pittsburgh Regional Scholastic Writing Awards Ceremony on March 3, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. in the O’Hara Student Center Ballroom at the University of Pittsburgh.
For this year’s contest, the WPWP received more than 300 creative pieces from nearly two hundred Allegheny County students in grades 7-12. The award winners (Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention) are listed on the
WPWP website. Students who receive Gold Keys in the Pittsburgh region advance to the Scholastic-hosted national competition in New York City.
The
Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards offer teens 28 categories to enter for the chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited or published. To date, the awards have recognized more than nine million young artists and writers, and made available more than $25 million in awards and scholarships. It is the longest-running recognition program for teens in the United States, and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.
