Associate Professor and LRDC Research Scientist Jennifer Lin Russell has been named to the National Education Researcher Database (NERD
) National Advisory Board. NERD is scheduled to launch in fall 2017 with a searchable database of profiles for more than 10,000 education researchers, including areas of expertise, contact information, and tags that will allow users to "follow" researchers and get regular updates on their work. As a board member, Russell will be among researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors who offer guidance to a team of technical experts building the database.
From NERD's website: "By centralizing information about academic researchers in an easily navigable and freely available database, NERD will enable school leaders and education-focused innovators and investors seeking expert perspective and technical expertise to find researchers and involve them in their systems and processes. The goal of NERD is to facilitate engagement between unlikely collaborators in the education community in order to elevate merit over marketing and increase the use of evidence in decision making. This project is made possible by the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation."
