On Wednesday, March 16, students in the School of Education celebrated cultural diversity with “Many Voices Together Day.”

The event was a day-long celebration promoting cultural awareness and appreciation of ethnic, social, and cultural diversity in the School of Ed.

Co-organizers and students Jorge Delgado, Rashonda Ross, Efrat Arramovich, and Chen-Jui Su planned the day and deemed it a great success.

"We created the student group 'Many Voices Together' to promote diversity," said Delgado. "The group as well as the day is all about having respect for diverse cultures, cultural awareness, and cultural appreciation."

Arramovich says the group plans to hold an event annually.

"We are going to try and do it again next year," she said. "We learned a lot from planning it this year and it will be easy to improve on. It's a great way to bring everyone together in the School of Education and to network with peers. We wanted everyone to join the party!"

The fifth floor of Posvar Hall indeed turned into a party as the day went on. The hallway was adorned with flags representing countries around the world. Eight student organizations participated, setting up tables with literature and artwork. Most notably was the table representing the county of Japan where students accepted donations to help with disaster relief of the devastating earthquake Japan recently endured.

The day was filled with live music, dancing, art exhibits, photo competition, student and faculty presentations, and a room filled with ethnic foods for all to enjoy.
