The School of Education has a "rolling admissions" policy, which assures that all completed applications will be given regular review for possible admissions. However, priority for admissions and financial aid decisions will be given to those applications that are sent in by the recommended deadline of March 15 for the fall term.
Admissions Requirements
- Completed School of Education Admissions Application.
- A non-refundable application fee of $50 (USD) by credit card, check, or money order, payable to 'University of Pittsburgh'.
- Total of 60 credits of prerequisite coursework.
- Minimum QPA of 2.50.
- Three-part, typewritten statement, not exceeding eight pages in length, discussing the following concerns in depth:
- What experience(s) made you select child and youth work as a profession?
- How will a knowledge of child development contribute to your professional competence?
- What do you believe is one of the most important contemporary social issues, and why?
- Three references, preferably from professionals familiar with the student’s experience with children/youth, maturity, work, habits, and academic ability.
