POSITIONS: Associate or Full Professor of Educational Leadership. Appointment will begin August 2012 or as negotiated.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Earned doctorate in educational leadership or related field, a commitment to research and publication, public PK-12 school or school district leadership experience in the United States, and success in improving the processes of PK-12 teaching and learning at the building or district level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Progressive experience as a building principal and hold, or eligible for, a valid and current administrative certificate endorsed for a principal position.Experience in directing and advising dissertation research in educational leadership, experience in teaching graduate courses in educational leadership, evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching, evidence of a developed or developing program of research and a record of refereed publications commensurate with academic rank. Evidence of a commitment to working collegially with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Scholarship and teaching address such domains astechnology applications, collective bargaining, personnel, the superintendency, school law, school improvement, leadership, and development of research proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach graduate courses in the educational leadership degree and certificate programs, supervise principal and superintendent interns, advise graduate students, supervise dissertation research, provide service to schools and the university, and engage in research and scholarly activities. Teaching assignments will be in a weekend academy format at the Macomb campus and the Quad Cities campus, and also via distance education. Office for this position is located at the Macomb campus.
RANK & SALARY: Associate or Full Professor. Rank is dependent upon scholarly record and experience in higher education. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Educational Leadership offers M.S.Ed., Ed.S., and Ed.D. degrees that lead toward principal and superintendent certification. We are seeking colleagues who are enthusiastic about preparing learning-centered educational leaders who will positively affect student achievement. The person appointed to this position will have the opportunity to contribute to the recognition of the Department of Educational Leadership at Western Illinois University as one of the premiere programs in the nation.
