Senior Consultant

Title of Position: Job Description: Overview:Works with CAEL’s Higher Education Team, and with various CAEL colleagues to develop, market, sell and deliver Higher Education consulting projects related to Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), the Adult Learning Focused Institution (ALFI), and other CAEL products. This position is located at CAEL's National Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  

•Selling new and established CAEL consulting projects in a variety of formats (e.g. on-site, workshop, webinar)

•Delivering consulting projects

•Developing consulting projects in a variety of formats (e.g. on-site, workshop, webinar)

•Outreach to former and prospective CAEL clients

•Follow-up on inquiries

•Report and proposal writing to colleges, state higher education systems, foundations and others

•Presentations at local, regional, and national conferences and other meetings

•Representing CAEL in a variety of venues, both formal and informal

•Research on adult learners and learning

•Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience:

Required:

•Earned doctoral degree, preferably in adult learning theory or related field. Education is considered to include both the formal/traditional as well as learning from life and work experience.

•Experience in marketing and selling services and/or products

•Minimum of five years’ experience in a postsecondary institution or related setting

•Minimum of five years’ experience working with adult learners

•Experience in teaching adult learners

•Experience managing budgets

 

Preferred

•Familiarity with Prior Learning Assessment and ALFI tools.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

•Superior written, oral presentation, and organizational skills

•Understanding of postsecondary organizations

•Superior client relationship skills

•Ability to communicate with state and university administrators and with university faculty

•Ability to develop and close business with colleges and universities

•Ability to create project budgets and plans

•Ability to guide a project from inception to conclusion, including timely submission of final   reports

•Attention to detail

•Desire to exceed expectations and show initiative and creativity

•Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team

•Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and work independently

•Excellent time management skills

•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook

•Willingness to travel (approximately 25% of the time)

 

Salary range:

•$80-90,000, depending on skills and experience.
