The Reading Center located in 5131 Wesley W. Posvar Hall serves as a resource facility within the School of Education. The Center currently holds teacher manuals, student texts, diagnostic testing and standardized testing materials for reading, professional books, and children's literature.
During the spring term, the Reading Center is also the site for a tutoring program
for students who are experiencing difficulty with reading. Students are assessed at the outset of the program and assigned to a small group or one-on-one tutoring context. An instructional plan is developed to address student needs. Parents receive a report of student progress and an interpretation of pretest and posttest results. Instruction is provided by certified teachers who are candidates for reading specialist certification and supervised by University faculty.
