IL 2257 - TEACHING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
THIS COURSE WILL EXPLORE STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (ELL¿S) IN FORMAL AND INFORMAL EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS. STUDENTS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO FOUNDATIONAL THEORIES AND CURRENT RESEARCH ON THE SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE ELLS¿ LEARNING EXPERIENCES. THE CLASS WILL INCLUDE A PRACTICUM COMPONENT IN WHICH STUDENTS WILL VISIT CLASSROOMS AND OBSERVE INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACHES FOR WORKING WITH LINGUISTICALLY AND CULTURALLY DIVERSE ELLS.
