IPRE 9115 - EARLY LITERACY

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO EXTEND THE SKILLS OF EXPERIENCED TEACHERS TO OBSERVE, ASSESS AND ENHANCE THE EARLY LITERACY DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN. PARTICIPANTS WILL OBSERVE, RECORD, AND ANALYZE THE READING AND WRITING BEHAVIORS OF AN INDIVID UAL CHILD. THROUGH COORDINATED ACTIVITIES, OBSERVATIONS, AND DISCUSSIONS, TEACHERS WILL IMPLEMENT SPECIALIZED READING METHODS WITH SMALL GROUPS IN A REGULAR CLASSROOM SETTING. THEY WILL DEVELOP LESSONS THAT ACTIVELY ENGAGE CHILDREN IN AUTHENTIC READING AND WRITING EXPERIENCES AND DRAW CHIL DREN'S ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS OF PRINT.
