IPRE 9116 - RESEARCH-BASED STRATEGIES: READING K-3
THE PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE IS TO INCREASE TEACHERS' KNOWL EDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF BEGINNING READING INSTRUCTION. TEACHERS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO RESEARCH-BASED STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING PHONEMIC AWARENESS, PHONICS, FLUENCY, VOCABULARY, AND COMPREHENSION. THERE WILL ALSO BE A FOCUS ON INTEGRAT ING WRITING INTO THE READING PROGRAM AND AN INTRODUCTION TO CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES. TEACHERS WILL HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PRACTICE TEACHING THESE STRATEGIES. THIS COURSE IS BASED UPON LEADERS, A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR K-3 TEACHERS.
