The School Board of Pulaski County Public Schools invites applications and nominations for the position of Superintendent. The anticipated date of hire is January/February, 2010.
THE COUNTY
Pulaski County is located in the region of Virginia called the New River Valley. The communities and towns in Virginia's New River Valley provide a friendly, family-oriented, small-town atmosphere with all of the attractions of cosmopolitan areas. The Valley is a quiet place surrounded by natural beauty. There is a spirit of cooperation to get things done; to develop and maintain a strong economy; and to
provide personal enrichment opportunities for all citizens. Bisected by the nation's oldest river, the Valley is bordered on the North by the Allegheny Mountains and on the South by the Blue Ridge.
THE SCHOOLS
Pulaski County is home to 6 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school. The student enrollment of approximately 4,623 is supported by 379 teachers. The 2009-2010 operating budget is $44,881,671.
