Supervisor's Title:       Case Manager
Purpose: ILS Instructor provides life skills training to adults with developmentally disabilities to foster skills for greater independence. Instructor works one-to-one with each person to address his or her individual goals. Training takes place within the individual's residence or community. Participation in group social activities promotes socialization skills and community involvement. 
The ILS curriculum and training includes the following subjects:
·         consumer advocacy
·         money management skills
·         shopping & nutrition skills
·         basic cooking and kitchen safety skills 
·         use of public transportation
·         accessing social services
·         Basic self care and personal environment instructions
·          & others
Responsibilities:
 
1.     Provide ILS instruction to adult clients at an ILS center with follow up at the individual's home.
2.     Plan, implements and evaluates appropriate ILS, primarily to blind and visually impaired adults.
3.     Conducts in-service training programs for agency staff and other agencies and organization in the community.
4.     Works with case manager, counselors and low vision specialist to provide services to individuals with visual impairment or blindness.
5.     Prepares monthly statistics and reports on the number of students seen for services, student's progress and other relevant reports.
6.     Other duties as assigned.  
 
Education/Experience Requirements
1.     BA/BS in special education, social work, or psychology, and 2 yrs experience required.
2.     Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and relevant or similar experience required.
3.     Experience in Home management training, and knowledge of visual impairments required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
 
1.     Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
2.     Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
3.     Computer literacy.
4.     Ability to work independently with little supervision.
