Educational Leadership (Tenure-track, Assistant Professor)
 
The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at The University of Tennessee is seeking applicants for an assistant professor to join the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Position begins August 2010.
 
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies offers graduate programs at the master's, education specialist, and doctoral levels. The Department is an active member of the University Council for Educational Administration and its programs leading to licensure are NCATE approved.
 
Required qualifications include:
  • An earned doctorate in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or a related field with strong content background in educational administration
  • Evidence of strong potential for scholarly productivity
  • Evidence of strong potential for teaching excellence at the graduate level
  • Evidence of the ability to respond effectively to cultural, linguistic, gender, and ethnic diversity
 
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the university and the department
  • Ability/potential to teach graduate level courses in Educational Leadership and/or Policy Studies
  • Ability to provide academic guidance/advising to masters and doctoral students
  • Experience chairing dissertation committees
  • Experience with distance learning methodologies
  • Potential to secure external funding and grants
  • Experience as a school administrator in PK-12 schools or related leadership experience in educational settings
 
Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Maintenance of a scholarly research agenda
  • Supporting the graduate programs in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through teaching and advising
  • Participating in professional associations at the local, state, regional, and national/international levels
  • Service to the department, college, university, and other educational organizations
  • Collaboration with college and department faculty, staff, and school-based administrators, as needed
 
Salary:
