The Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education (ECPS)
at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a one or two year visiting
professor appointment in MERM.
MERM supports a masters and doctoral program and additionally offers courses that meet the
methodology requirements for students across the Faculty of Education as well as other
Faculties at UBC. These courses are at the upper division undergraduate level, as well as
masters and doctoral levels. The successful candidate should have expertise in at least two of
the following areas: measurement, statistics, qualitative research methods, and classroom
assessment. Experience working in schools is highly desirable, although not necessary.
Evidence of research and scholarly achievement, and commitment to excellence in teaching
are required. In addition to contributing to both graduate and undergraduate teaching and
service within the department, the successful applicant is expected to have a strong
commitment to research, to pursue an active program of research, and provide guidance on
research methods to masters and doctoral students.
We invite junior colleagues who have recently completed their PhD for appointments at the
assistant professor level as well as senior colleagues who may be seeking opportunities during
a sabbatical or leave. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in a relevant field. The
appointment will be effective September 1, 2010. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and work commitment.
