The Pulaski County School Board invites applications for the position of School Superintendent. The anticipated date of hire is January, 31 2010.
PULASKI COUNTY
Pulaski County is located in the scenic New River Valley of Southwest Virginia. The county offers access to Claytor Lake, Claytor Lake State Park and the New River Trail State Park as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway to the south. Virginia Tech and Radford University are located nearby. New River Community College is located within the county. Pulaski Count's population is estimated at 35, 127.
THE SCHOOLS
Pulaski County is severed by five elementary schools, two middle schools, an alternative/transition school and one high school. The student population is approximately 4700 students. The 2008-1010 operating budget for Pulaski County schools is $44,881,670. The regional Southwest Virginia Governor's School is also located in Pulaski County.
QUALIFICIATIONS
· Successful experience as an administrator with a professional background that includes finance, instruction and personnel leadership. Experience as a principal and teacher si desired.
· Assures accessibility and maintains a high profile in the schools and in the community. Advocates effectively on behalf of the schools of Pulaski County.
· Demonstrates superior ethics, personal integrity and proven leadership abilities. Ability to recruit and retain high quality staff and encourage professional growth.
· Organized and efficient in operating the school system.
· Interacts in a positive manner with employees, parent organizations, students, civic groups and community businesses.
· Believes all students have value and have the ability to learn.

The candidate selected as the Superintendent of Pulaski County Public Schools must agree to become a resident of Pulaski County.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
