Exercise Physiology - Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Overview

Students pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Exercise Physiology select tailored courses that are an extension of the MS degree programs to specialize in research to prepare them for academic and research positions at prestigious Universities and Research Medical Centers. The student works closely with their faculty mentor to develop the appropriate plan of study and research experiences. Current research expertise of the faculty includes the following:

  • Obesity and Body Weight Regulation
  • Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Disease
  • Epidemiology of Physical Activity and Chronic Disease
  • Perceptual Responses to Physical Activity and Exercise
  • Physical Activity Programming for Health and Fitness
  • Physical Activity for Children and Adolescents
  • Technology-Based Interventions for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Disease
