The Fathers Collaborative is a synergistic partnership that builds on the strengths of each collaborative member to provide a seamless system of quality services for all fathers including non-custodial fathers. The Fathers Collaborative is committed to expanding cooperative and reciprocal relationships to reach its goals.
Goals
- Create a unified system of coordinated services for fathers to enhance their involvement with their children;
- Increase fathers' capacity to fulfill financial responsibilities, including non-custodial father's child support payments;
- Improve the non-custodial fathers' ability to function as a family member;
- Increase the number of visits of non-custodial fathers with their children
Target Area
Target Population Options
All fathers including non-custodial who are:
- Not eligible for other non-custodial fathers programs and services
- No longer eligible for non-custodial services due to program participant specific time limitations
- Eligible for augmented services provided by the Fathers Collaborative programs
Specific Definition:
- Wants a positive relationship with child and has sincere interest to be active in the child's life
- Wants positive involvement with family
- Unemployed or underemployed
- Needs support in developing job skills and navigating the work force
- Needs support in developing positive life skills
- Wants to make child support payments
- Having difficulty meeting his child support obligations and/or is non-compliant with his child support
Fathers Collaborative Services
- New: A Man's Guide to Child Development Curriculum and Training
- New: Fatherhood Training Institute
- New: Program in the Allegheny County Jail providing supportive services to fathers including non-custodial father support and employment and training.
