Partnerships for Family Support, developed in 1993, provides training and technical assistance to the stakeholders of the family support movement in Allegheny County, and staff support to the infrastructure that supports the family support system. These stakeholders, including families, communities, family support center staff and volunteers, human service providers, and public and private policy makers, are collaborating through the Family Support Policy Board and
its committees to insure a strong prevention system that adheres to family support principles. This project, funded collaboratively by the Allegheny County's Office of Children, Youth and Families and the Howard Heinz Endowment, provides training through the Thomas Foerster Training and Resource Center, and technical assistance that is designed to insure:
- quality in family support programs
- an effective infrastructure to promote prevention and positive outcomes for children and their families
- community opportunities to identify, design, and govern neighborhood and broader community plans and services
- an integrated, system reform approach to service delivery
