Learning to be Partners

Learning to be Partners is a training program designed to provide an introduction to the principles and practices of family support. Its targeted audience is new staff who will work directly with families in family support programs. It presents a basic survey of issues and concepts that practitioners are likely to encounter in family support work. Through group experience (rather than "classroom" learning), active participation, hands-on practice, peer interaction and sharing, and a combination of doing, thinking, and feeling, Learning to Be Partners provides the trainer with a detailed road map for guiding staff who are new to family support through a validating and supportive training experience. Staff of the Office of Child Development worked with the Family Support America (formerly Family Resource Coalition of America) to complete this curriculum.
