    • I attended the 21st World Congress on Reading/International Reading Associaction in Budapest, Hungary. My major purpose for attending the World Congress was to promote The Negro Educational Review. Moreover, my aim was to meet and talk with people from other countries about the journal. To do so, I selected sessions presented by non-US citizens and listened for issues of interest. Sessions were challenging. A few presenters expressed interest in submitting manuscripts for consideration to publish in the journal.
    • Chair of the College Literacy and Learning/Special Interest Group/International Reading Assocaition. I was responsible for planning and organizing the Annual CLL/SIG/IRA program for the convention, soliciting program proposals and writing letters to program participants, communicating wht the national IRA office to get the CLL progam in the national program, chairing the executive committee, chairing the program at the national IRA convention, chairing the business meeting at the national convention, communicating with CLL members, etc. Also, I served as a delegate to the International Reading Association's Convention.
    • Chair of College Literacy and Learning Special Interest Group Responsible for organizing Annual IRA program for the convention, soliciting program proposals and communicating with program participants, communicating with the national office to get the program into the national program, chairing the executive committee, chairing the program at the national conference, chairing the business meeting at the national conference, communicating with CLL members, etc. Also, I served as a delegate to the International Reading Association's Convention.

  • The Negro Educational Review, Incorporated (NER)
    • Editor-in-Chief and Co-Managing Editor of The Negro Educational Review. Established in 1950, this refereed international journal publishes: (a) scholarly articles and research reports, (b) competent analyses and descriptions of current problems, and (c) significant compilations and creative works related to Black people. Manuscripts are considered and accepted without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, or institutional affiliation of authors. As Editor-in-Chief my responsibilities include but are not limited to editing and facilitating the publication of the Negro Educational Review (NER) journal, writing for the journal, chairing the annual meeting of NER editors, proposing special issues of NER, circulating call for manuscripts information, and communicating with potential authors, the managing editor, and editorial offices’ personnel.
