Gabriel Stylianides is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at the School of Education, University of Pittsburgh. A Fulbright scholar, he received M.Sc. degrees in mathematics and mathematics education, and then his Ph.D. in mathematics education, at the University of Michigan. He has a B.A. degree in education and mathematics with elementary school teaching certification. His research focuses on issues related to the teaching and learning of the fundamental mathematical concepts of reasoning and proof in both school and university settings (with particular attention to teacher education settings).
