Part Time Faculty - Part Time Instructor
Kathy Daugherty has over thirty-five years of experience in all areas of special education. She received her Ph. D. in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975 and completed advanced studies at Duquesne University pursuant to certification in school psychology. She holds (Act 48) active certification in Pennsylvania in six areas including: school psychologist, letter of eligibility for the superintendency, elementary school principal, letter of eligibility for IU executive director, special education supervisor, and special education teacher, visually impaired. She is also a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania. Dr. Daugherty served as a special education administrator for thirty years in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, supervising the Institutionalized Children’s Programs at St. Francis Medical Center and Mercy Behavioral Health, school psychology, occupational and physical therapy, middle school special education services, and the program for students with visual impairments. She also taught graduate courses in special education at the University of Pittsburgh for eighteen years and is currently a parttime faculty member in the University of Pittsburgh Supervision of Special Education Program which is exclusively taught via the internet. Dr. Daugherty has published research on special education in peer reviewed journals. She has also served as an expert witness in disability law cases.
Dr. Daugherty is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and Phi Delta Kappa.
