Full Time Faculty - Clinical Professor

Dr. Sutin joined the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh in August 2007 as Clinical Professor of Administrative and Policy Studies. Between 2003 and 2007 Dr. Sutin was President and Chief Executive Officer of Community College of Allegheny County. Dr. Sutin's principal focus is development and sustaining a specialization in community college leadership.He is also Associate Director of the Institute for Higher Education Management.

Prior to assuming a position in educational leadership, Dr. Sutin worked for 29 years in the financial services industry. He served as Senior Vice President and International Department Head of Mellon Bank (now BNY Mellon) from 1995 to 2003. He moved to Pittsburgh after working at Bank of Boston (now Bank of America) for 16 years. During this time, he held a variety of senior management positions that included President of Bank of Boston International.

Dr. Sutin holds a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Texas at Austin (1975), an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University (1969, and a B.A. in History from Penn State (1966). He was an adjunct faculty at the Katz Graduate School of Business Administration of the University of Pittsburgh and at Babson University. Dr. Sutin served as Chair of the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education, and on advisory boards at University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne, Brandeis, and the University of Miami. He helped found and served as Chair of the Global Trade Institute (Pittsburgh), and the New England Export Academy.
