Social and Comparative Analysis in Education - Master of Education (MEd) Overview

The Master of Education (MEd) is a professional degree for the graduate student who wishes to pursue advanced study in at least one field of educational effort and to demonstrate a superior level of expertise and capacity for leadership in that field.

The MEd student and his/her advisor prepare a plan of studies of a minimum of 36 credits, including nine credits meeting the School of Education requirement in basic areas of education, 15 credits of program area coursework (selected from the list of approved courses), nine credits of electives demonstrated to be relevant to the program area, and three credits associated with producing a research paper. The SCAE program area must approve the plan of studies. To graduate, the student must successfully complete the coursework indicated in the plans of studies, pass the comprehensive exam, and carry out the research paper assignment.
