Secondary Education

The Secondary Education Program offers five major specialization areas: English/Communications Education; Foreign Language Education, Mathematics Education; Science Education, and Social Studies Education. Within each of these the student can choose to pursue Professional Year (PY) certification specialization, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree certification specialization, or a Master of Education (MEd) degree certification specialization.

• Science Education - Effective teaching is at the heart of science education. Good teachers of science create environments in which they and their students work together as active learners. They use assessments of students and of their own teaching to plan and conduct instruction. They build strong, sustained relationships grounded in their knowledge of students' similarities and differences and are active as members of science-learning communities.
