Curriculum - Aerobics Option

The aerobic option prepares students to assume fitness leadership responsibilities. Students are provided knowledge in areas such as physiology of exercise, nutrition, anatomy, sport conditioning, and aerobic instruction. A practicum and internship presents students with the opportunity to demonstrate learned skills in a practical setting.

  • You may study Aerobics by completing the Aerobics option of the Bachelor of Science degree, or the Aerobics Minor.
  • The option will prepare students to earn various certifications that are now becoming requirements for aerobic- related positions. The student would be eligible to earn 12 professional certifications including the following: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American Fitness Association (AFA), or the American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Instructor (HFI) exam.
  • Potential career opportunities include: Adult Fitness, Aerobics Instructor, Exercise Leader, or Worksite wellness programming. Additional career and professional information may be found on the following web links: Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, Human Kinetics, or www.acsm.com.
