Curriculum - Aquatics Option

The Aquatic option prepares students to assume responsibilities related to aquatic-related responsibilities. Students are provided knowledge in areas such as teaching, administration, and coaching related to areas of aquatics. A practicum and internship presents students with the opportunity to demonstrate aquatic related skills in recreational, school, clinical, or private setting.

  • You may study Aquatics by completing the Aquatics option of the Bachelor of Science degree, or the Aquatics Minor.
  • The option will prepare students to earn various certifications that are now becoming requirements for aquatic related positions. The student would be eligible to earn 17 professional certifications including the following: American Red Cross Water Safety or Lifeguard Instructor, or National Swim Coaches Association Level 1 & 2.
  • Potential career opportunities include: Director of Aquatics, Aquatic Exercise Leader or Instructor, or United States Swimming/NSCA swimming coach.
