University of Pittsburgh School of Education

“We must shift the gaze from looking at the problems of the people to looking at the problems of structures, institutions, and systems.”
– CUE Director and Professor Rich Milner

School of Education Faculty

Imagine an education where the faculty's research shapes the teaching community’s knowledge about learning and has been honored at local, national, and global levels. The School of Education currently has 53 full-time faculty members (and 82 part time), of which 100 percent hold a doctorate. Their experience and enthusiasm is then passed along to our students, creating the next generation of knowledgeable teachers, researchers, and school leaders.

Wouldn’t you want an expert in your field teaching you?

With more than $25 million in research funding across 50 projects--including 19 faculty members who have received grants worth more than $1 million--our faculty probes the issues that will shape education, health and wellness, community service, public policy, and child development for years to come.
