Psychology in Education Alumna Laura Scharphorn Named Finalist for Presidential Management Fellowship

Recent Psychology in Education doctoral graduate Laura Scharphorn is a finalist for the Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF), which is given by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to help develop potential government leaders. While at Pitt, Scharphorn worked with Heather Bachman and Shannon Wanless on research investigating best practices for supporting the development of young children's early social and academic skills.

The PMF program was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order and has gone through many changes over the years. The program inculcates a lasting bond as well as a spirit of public service, ultimately encouraging and leading to a career in the government.
