Doctoral Student Jennifer Briggs Receives 2015 Graduate Student Award in SEL Research from AERA Group

Jennifer Briggs, a doctoral student in Applied Developmental Psychology (ADP), received the 2015 Graduate Student Award for Excellence in SEL Research from the AERA Social-Emotional Learning Special Interest Group (SIG).

Briggs will be formally awarded at the AERA SEL SIG Business Meeting, during the American Educational Research Association's (AERA) conference, occurring from April 15-20, 2015. She will also be highlighted in the SIG newsletter, which has a national circulation of SEL experts.

The title of her proposal is, "Targeting Teacher–Student Relationships to Support Preschool Social Competence: What Really Matters in the Classroom?"

Her second author is Joseph Pieri, also an Applied Developmental Psychology student. Briggs also collaborated with ADP faculty members Shannon Wanless and Richard Correnti, and graduate student assistant Jennifer Kutzner.
