Doctor of education (EdD) graduate Joseph W. Pasquerilla was named superintendent of the Bethel Park School District. Pasquerilla will replace Nancy Aloi Rose, who has been the district’s superintendent since January 2012 and will retire at the end of her current contract. His official start date has not been determined.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Pasquerilla as our new superintendent,” said Bethel Park School Board President Donna Cook. “His vision for academic excellence and his commitment to continuing to move the district into a 21st-century learning environment is shared by the Board of School Directors.

Pasquerilla is currently superintendent of the Northgate School District, a position he has held since July 2012. Previously, he worked in the Ambridge Area School District from 2009-2012 as the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, from 2009-2010, and most recently as assistant to the superintendent, from 2010-2012. He began his teaching career in the West Middlesex Area School District in 2003, where he taught high school social studies until 2008.

Pasquerilla is also currently a member of the Forum for Western Pennsylvania School Superintendents, which is a collaboration with the School of Education.
