EdD student Sarah Wagner's Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership was awarded an honorable mention for the 2017 Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion in International Education (EDIIE) by Diversity Abroad. Wagner is director for the program, and Professor Jean Ferketish is faculty advisor.

Chosen from recommendations made by the 2017 Awards Review Committee, this year’s recipients have demonstrated a "commitment to advancing diversity and inclusive excellence within international education on an individual, institutional, and organizational level, as well as students who represent Diversity Abroad’s mission to diversify global education."

The VIH Program for Women in Global Leadership "prepares women for tomorrow's global challenges by offering a unique opportunity for international experiences, leadership development and community service. The VIH Program has three principal components: the international experience, the Community Engagement Experience and two weekend-long, intensive leadership development retreats."
