The Early Intervention programs at the Pitt School of Education focus on young children with disabilities (from birth to 5 years old) and their families. The area of concentration is part of our special education program.

Our Early Intervention program will prepare you to be a practitioner in the assessment and educational programming for young children with disabilities. We incorporate material from the wide variety of settings in which young children are served, including the home environment, schools, clinics, centers, hospitals, and community centers. Your work in the field of Early Intervention is critical as it maximizes the developmental potential of young children, enhances the capabilities of families to meet the needs of their children, and reduces the overall cost of educational services through preventative care

Some of our Early Intervention programs may apply to the PA Behavior Specialist Licensure. View our Pennsylvania License Requirements for Behavior Specialists Guide for more information.
