Language, Literacy, and Culture Program
The Pitt School of Education's doctoral programs in Language, Literacy, and Culture is focused on the study of cultural, linguistic, social, psychological, and political perspectives on educational studies.
The necessity of an interdisciplinary lens is more critical than ever given the country's changing immigration patterns, shifting populations of K-12 schools, and new theoretical advances in education.
Our LLC program, which is offered as an area of concentration in our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, is appropriate for students with backgrounds in subject matter disciplines. The program brings together four previously separate doctoral programs in English Education, Foreign Language Education, Reading Education, and Social Studies Education.
