Application Instructions for Undergraduate Students

Congratulations on your interest in joining the Pitt School of Education! We offer dynamic environment for undergraduate students to study education and prepare for exciting careers in education. Our world-renowned faculty offer you exceptional support as you transition from the classroom to external environments in teaching, education, and health and wellness.

Since we don't offer direct admittance to freshmen, you will begin in our school in your junior year. By then, you will have established a firm foundation through the university's liberal arts curriculum.

Our Undergraduate Programs

Current Pitt Student

The Pitt School of Education does not offer direct admit to college freshmen. When you begin as a freshman, you will begin their course of study at another college within Pitt, such as the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. You should tell your academic advisor that you plan on matriculating into one of the Pitt Education undergraduate programs, which will occur during your junior year.

In the spring term of your sophomore year, you will submit a supplemental application to the Pitt School of Education. In the application, you will select your program of interest.

Transfer Student

If you are a transfer student, you will apply to the Pitt School of Education through the University of Pittsburgh's Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. In your application, you will select your program of interest. Additionally, you will have to complete a supplemental application to the Pitt School of Education.


Applications received prior to March 1 will receive priority consideration. Applications received after March 1 will be considered only if there is space available.
