For all incoming undergraduate and graduate students, the Pitt School of Education New Student Orientation will help you smoothly begin your journey as a student. Orientation will provide information about your academic program, career and student services, and introductions from school leadership.

Orientation is mandatory for new students who will begin in the fall 2022 term. Attendance is optional (but encouraged) for students who began in the summer 2022 term and for online students.

COVID-19 standards and guidelines at Pitt

For the latest information for incoming students, please visit the University of Pittsburgh website www.coronavirus.pitt.edu. The website includes details on teaching and learning, health and safety, student life, and buildings and spaces.

In addition, you may view information on the University's vaccine requirement for students, faculty, and staff.

Review tuition and financial aid information

We recognize that your education is a major financial investment. Please click the links to view the tuition and fees for our academic programs and the financial aid available to our students. 

Accept your offer of acceptance as an admitted student

It is important that you accept your offer of admission. The instructions are as follows:

1. All applicants will receive an email from Pitt CSSD with instructions on how to activate the applicant account.

2. Visit https://applicant.accountactivation.pitt.edu, and enter your username and the activation key provided in the CSSD email

3. You may then log into Peoplesoft Mobile to accept the offer of admission. Navigate to "Accept/Decline Admissions" to make the selection

4. After you complete the process, our faculty and staff will reach out to you to provide help with advising and course registration

Submit your final transcript to complete your application

In many of our programs, you are required to submit a transcript in order for your application to be considered complete. 

1. Official transcripts from every institution previously attended can be sent to us electronically at soeinfo@pitt.edu or mailed to us at:

2. Any courses that you took or degrees that you earned from the University of Pittsburgh after 2008 do not need to be sent. Our office can obtain these transcripts internally.

Submit your documentation as an international student

International students may need to complete additional requirements for a fully completed application. Please visit our International Students Admissions Requirements page for more information.

Get your student photo ID card

Students obtain their Pitt photo ID card through Pitt's Panther Central office.  Known as your "Panther Card," the ID card gives you access to facilities and services on-and-off campus, as well as to ride public transportation.

Find off-campus housing

The University of Pittsburgh has several options for finding an off-campus housing that suits your needs. Visit Pitt's Office of Off-Campus Living. The office provides apartment listings, renter’s guides, and information on various Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

Registering for courses in Pitt Education

Follow these general steps to enroll and register for courses. However, students should work with their faculty advisor to determine the best courses for which they should register.

  1. New students must first accept their admission offer and pay their tuition deposit before enrolling in courses.
     
  2. New and continuing students should log in through my.pitt.edu using their Pitt user name and password. 
     
  3. On my.pitt.edu, search for "PeopleSoft/Highpoint Campus Experience.' From here, you can access your academic, personal, and financial information, and access various enrollment tools.

Resources for Helping students in distress

The University offers a number of resources to help students in mental, emotional, or physical distress. Resources include a Financial Emergency Assistance Fund, the University Counseling Center, and measures to address sexual misconduct.

Connect with our education-focused student organizations

You have the opportunity to enhance your education by participating in education-focused student organizations as a student at the Pitt School of Education.

The largest organization at our school, of which all graduate students are automatically admitted as members, is the Council for Graduate Students in Education (CGSE)

View community and professional engagement opportunities for students 

Our students complete real-world experiences through the many community-engaged partnerships that exist between our School and external organizations. The school has established signature partnerships with the MuseumLab of Pittsburgh and the Pitt Community Engagement Centers in Homewood and the Hill District neighborhoods.
