Developing Change Agents For Education Systems
Our Administrative and Policy Studies Department is led by a group of renowned scholars who are committed to re-shaping educational policies and systems in the service of educational improvement. Our faculty specialize in reform efforts within educational systems at the K-12 and post-secondary levels. Their work draws upon an interdisciplinary knowledge base that brings together ideas and research from different areas.
Academic Offerings
The department offers master's and doctoral degree programs in education leadership, higher education management, and social and comparative analysis of education. Additionally, the department offers state certification programs for school leaders, including principals, superintendents, and supervisors of curriculum and instruction.
Outreach Programs

- Tri-State Area School Study Council - An association of school districts and intermediate units in the region that provides professional development activities and technical assistance
- Western Pennsylvania School Superintendent's Forum - An invitational membership group providing continuing professional development
- Collaborative for Evaluation and Assessment Capacity - Provides evaluation and assessment services for educational organizations, social and human service agencies, foundations, and other programs involved with children and youth
- Institute for International Studies in Education - Affiliate of the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) that supports a lecture series and hosts visiting international scholars
