Shederick A. McClendon (GSPH ’95) is the Assistant Dean for Student Engagement in the School of Education at Pitt. He provides leadership and strategic direction across a broad range of administrative practices, policies, and services to enrich undergraduate and graduate students’ experience and promote students’ academic and professional success.
He has been a higher education administrator for over 20 years and spent several years as the Director of Student Support and Alumni Relations at the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, which is headquartered in Washington, DC. Before that, he was a faculty member in the Higher Education Administration program in the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Most recently, he was the Assistant Dean of Students at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health.
Shederick returned to Pitt as a proud alumnus, after being a graduate student here 25 years ago. While at Pitt, he received his master’s in Public Health in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences.
