Erika Gold Kestenberg, Ph.D., is the Associate Director of Educator Development and Practice for the Center for Urban Education and a Visiting Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Certificate in Urban Education and Urban Scholars Programs in the Department of Instruction and Learning in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Kestenberg’s degrees include a Doctorate in Education with a self-designed multidisciplinary focus on Social Justice, a Master’s degree and Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education-Social Studies and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History with a minor in Psychology. She is also a product of the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
Dr. Kestenberg has spent her life working in the field of education in urban spaces in schools, non-profits, and foundations throughout Pittsburgh and in Israel. Her work includes teaching, facilitating, mentoring, research, professional development, creating and managing a wide variety of educational programs, grant writing, community outreach, and advocacy, all with a grounding in equity and justice.
