Dr. Suzanne Lane's scholarly interests are in educational measurement, with a focus on design, technical, validity, equity, and policy issues in testing, and the relationship between learning and assessment. She has published in the Journal of Educational Measurement, Applied Measurement in Education, Educational Assessment, and Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice.
She was the President of NCME (2003-2004), Vice President of Division D-AERA (2000-2002), member of the Joint Committee for revising the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (1993-1999). She served on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Educational Measurement, Applied Measurement in Education, Educational Assessment, Educational Researcher, and Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice. She has served on technical advisory boards for ETS (GRE, Visiting Panel, and CBAL), The College Board (Research Advisory Committee and AP TAC), PARCC, NCSC Alternate Assessment Consortium, NBPTS, AICPA, ABIM, PSI, NBPTS, and state assessment and accountability systems (NY, PA, TX, DE, NJ, NC, SC, TN).
Instructional Interests
Dr. Lane has taught statistics, measurement and research design courses, including introduction to research, educational and psychological measurement, survey design and validation, psychometric theory, constructing achievement tests, and test equating and scaling.
Scholarly Interests
Dr. Lane is interested in design, technical, validity, equity, and policy issues in testing and the relationship between assessment in learning. She is particularly interested in examining the consequences of testing, both intended positive consequences and unintended negative consequences.
