Ceremony Details

Undergraduate Students

Virtual Ceremony

The School of Education will host a virtual ceremony for all graduating students on Sunday, May 2 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 

  • Registration is required for the virtual ceremony. Register here.
  • The virtual ceremony is for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, as well as their family and friends.
  • Faculty and staff are also encouraged to attend the ceremony due to space restrictions at the in-person ceremony.

In-Person Ceremony

The University of Pittsburgh will host an in-person ceremony for undergraduate students on Sunday, May 2 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.

  • The registration deadline for the in-person ceremony is Wednesday, April 14. Complete your registration here.
  • Students are permitted to bring a maximum of two guests to the ceremony.
  • Faculty and staff are not permitted to attend, other than a limited number of volunteers.
  • Regalia is required for students to participate in the ceremony. Regalia should be ordered by Friday, April 9 in order to ensure it will arrive on time. Order regalia online here.
  • The ceremony will follow physical distancing protocols and face coverings will be required.
  • The ceremony will include students from the School of Education, School of Social Work, and School of Computing and Information.
  • To access captioning of the ceremony, please log onto www.mobileCAP.net and use ID# 7488 from your smartphone or tablet.

Graduate and Professional Students

Virtual Ceremony

The School of Education will host a virtual ceremony for all students on Sunday, May 2 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

  • The virtual ceremony is for all School of Education undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, as well as their family and friends.

In-Person Ceremony

The University of Pittsburgh will host an in-person ceremony for graduate students on Thursday, April 29 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.

  • The registration deadline for the in-person ceremony is Monday, April 12. Complete your registration here.
  • Students are permitted to bring a maximum of two guests to the ceremony.
  • Regalia is required for students to participate in the ceremony. Regalia should be ordered by Friday, April 9 in order to ensure it will arrive on time. Order regalia online here.
  • The ceremony will follow physical distancing protocols and face coverings will be required.
  • The ceremony will include students from the School of Education, Graduate School of Public Health, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, School of Computing and Information, and Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences

Commencement Flower Services

Flowers and commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase at the graduate and undergraduate in-person ceremonies. To further contribute to a safe and efficient environment, we are strongly encouraging customers to use the online pre-order service. There will be a contact-free customer experience for guests who are picking up their pre-purchased and reserved product. This will also increase overall physical distancing measures.
