Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility

Receive your state certification and become a highly effective superintendent of schools.

The Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility graduate certificate prepares you to become the top administrator in K-12 public and private schools. Our graduates are employed as assistant superintendents and superintendents across Pennsylvania school districts in rural, urban, and suburban settings.

While this certificate may be completed independently, many students choose to also enroll in our Doctor of Education (EdD) in Education Leadership program. Courses completed in the superintendent’s letter of eligibility program are automatically applied to the education doctorate degree requirements.

Program Overview

District-Wide Leadership

Our superintendent certification program is developed with the career-oriented professional in mind. Get ready to champion your school through our emphasis on vision and transformational leadership, relationship leadership and governance, and competent management of resources.

Hybrid Format

The program accommodates the needs of working professionals by offering coursework mostly online, combined with a class in person once a month.  Students will receive very clear timelines and a supportive environment geared toward working, adult professionals.

State Certification

The program prepares students for the Superintendent PK-12 Letter of Eligibility from the Pennsylvania State Department of Education (PDE).  The certification allows you to work as an assistant superintendent or superintendent in public and private schools in Pennsylvania.

Education Doctorate Option

Many of our students choose to also enroll in our Doctor of Education (EdD) in Education Leadership program. The courses completed in the superintendent’s letter of eligibility program are automatically applied to the degree requirements.

Curriculum

The graduate certificate is 24 credits.

The curriculum addresses the core needs of school leaders and the critical issues facing children, families, personnel, school boards, and communities.

Internship Experience

Students will complete an internship (3 credits) in central office administration.

The internship provides an opportunity for the student to gain practical experience and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and competencies obtained during the process of the training program in educational administration.
