This senior faculty member works to center equity, justice, and inclusion school-wide. They work to ensure it is part of teaching and learning, educational research, professional service, and community-engaged partnerships.
Equity and Justice Committee
Chaired by the Associate Dean, the group includes faculty, staff, and students who work together to create a transformative vision for engaging the school community around its explicit commitments to equity and justice.
Justice Scholars Institute (JSI)
The JSI initiative is a pre-college preparation program for high school students from the Pittsburgh Public Schools district that otherwise may not receive adequate opportunities for college exposure.
Practices of Freedom Project
This school-wide initiative is constructing a new teacher training model that centers Black community educational knowledge traditions. The goal is to increase the number of Black teachers and other Teachers of Color and to enhance the use of culturally responsive pedagogy.
Equity & Justice Scholars
This doctoral fellowship program, designed to support equity in the school, provides a paid fellowship and mentoring support for doctoral students.
