Your Voice in the Student Experience
The Council of Graduate Students in Education (CGSE) is run by graduate students in the Pitt School of Education. As a graduate student of our school, you are automatically a member of the organization. The organization gives you a voice in shaping the student experience at the school and also provides student resources including funding for travel and research grants.
CGSE Mission
The CGSE represents the academic, social, and professional interests of all Pitt Education graduate students, with a focus on:
- Student representation in the governance of Pitt Education and the University of Pittsburgh
- Promotion of diversity, inclusion, and equity among the student body at Pitt Education
- Student professional development through activities, affiliations, and recruitment events
How CGSE Supports You
The CGSE provides you with the opportunity to engage in activities that develop your professional growth and success, including through:
- Start of the Year Peer Social – This event is a great opportunity to connect with your peers and network, whether you are a first-year or returning student.
- Milestone Day Social – This event is an excellent opportunity to celebrate your peers’ presentations, ask questions about research interests, and network for future projects.
- Spring Conference – It is the time and space for you to share your completed or ongoing research with others, get feedback, and connect with peers and faculty in the School of Education.
- End of the Year Event – This event is mainly organized to celebrate all the work we all have done, experiences, and dedication we had this year
Touchpoints throughout the year will vary to be responsive to student needs in the School of Education.
These are tentative lists of events, and CGSE is working towards collaborating with other student organizations to support the professional and social growth of the SOE community.
