Teacher Education Programs

Our Master of Education (MEd) in Early Childhood Education program offers a range of coursework encompassing the needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children in the primary grades.

Our Master of Arts in Teaching with teacher certification (Grades 7-12) prepares you for certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to teach in a subject area in grades 7-12. See the links below for the individual program pages. You must select a subject area for certification.

Our Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology program is ideal for students seeking clinical and research careers.

How to Apply

All University of Pittsburgh graduates who graduated within the past three years are eligible for our Pitt2Pitt programs.

You submit your application directly through the program of interest. After completing your application, you will notify the admissions representative of your interest in participating in the Pitt2Pitt program.

Other application highlights include:

  • No GRE Exam is required for admission
  • Students should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for guaranteed eligibility
  • Scholarships from $2,500 to $5,000 are available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Streamlined admissions process for applicants

The program prerequisites vary by subject area. If you do not meet all of the prerequisites, don’t worry! You are still eligible to apply and can complete the courses at the beginning of the program.
