Pitt Education Named Top Education School

The University of Pittsburgh School of Education climbed five spots in U.S. News & World Report’s newly released 2022 Best Education Schools rankings.

US News rankings badgePitt Education is now ranked No. 34 in the United States among all schools (public and private). Last year, the school was ranked No. 39 overall.

In Western Pennsylvania, the school continues to be the No. 1 ranked education school.

In addition, based on independent analysis by Pitt Education, the school made significant gains in its ranking relative to other public institutions.

Pitt Education improved to No. 23 in the country among public institutions, up for last year’s position of No. 28.

Based on the school’s analysis, Pitt Education is also No. 1 in Pennsylvania among public education schools, taking back the Keystone State’s top spot after a one-year hiatus.

The annual U.S. News ranking is based on an evaluation of hundreds of education schools across the United States. The ranking methodology has four categories: quality assessment, research activity, student selectivity, and faculty resources.

Founded in 1910, the Pitt School of Education has more than 33,000 alumni in nearly 90 countries worldwide. The school offers a wide range of degree and certificate programs across education, health and physical activity, and human development.

The school has academic departments in Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy, Health and Human Development, and Teaching, Learning, and Leading.

The Pitt School of Education supports leading centers, institutes, and sustained initiatives, including the Center for Urban Education, Office of Child Development, and Healthy Lifestyle Institute. The school is also affiliated with the Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School, a private kindergarten through eighth grade laboratory school of the University of Pittsburgh.
