Centering Equity and Justice

Inequity in education and health is a defining issue of our time. Pitt EdD students study the current system, what led to current inequities, and how to work toward a more just future.

Expansive approach to health and education

Across all eight majors, students learn varied perspectives on education and health. You will gain a powerful and comprehensive view of education and health in society.

Managing change within complex systems

You will gain the tools to shape and manage change with the goal of applying what you learn both toward their current role and aspirational leadership positions.

Should I Earn an EdD or PhD?

Created over 100 years ago, the education doctorate (EdD) is for senior-level professionals who want to put their scholarship into practice.

It is meant for scholarly practitioners, whereas the PhD degree is suited for future education researchers.

Our students work in diverse fields across preK-12 education, higher education, community health, government agencies, research institutes, and more.
