Pitt Education Ranks No. 1 Public School of Education in PA
The University of Pittsburgh School of Education is ranked the top public institution in Pennsylvania and No. 34 nationally in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools ranking.
“I’m thrilled to see that our School of Education has once again been ranked the No. 1 public school of education in Pennsylvania and is recognized among the best education schools in the nation,” says Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher, the Interim Renée and Richard Goldman Dean and professor in the Pitt School of Education. “This positioning speaks to the top-tier quality of our programs, our renowned research culture, and our ability to provide transformative learning experiences that center equity, justice, and innovation.”
U.S. News evaluated 256 schools for the ranking and placed Pitt Education within the top 15% nationally. Schools were scored based on their research activity (50% of score), quality assessment (25% of score), faculty resources (20%), and student selectivity (5%).
Within Pennsylvania, Pitt Education held on to its longstanding position as the state’s top public school of education. It ranked ahead of Pennsylvania State University (No. 46), Temple University (No. 48), Lehigh University (No. 86), and Drexel University (No. 111). Other Western Pennsylvania schools to be ranked included Indiana University of Pennsylvania (No. 166) and Duquesne University (No. 169).
Pitt Education tied for No. 34 nationally with four other schools: Indiana University–Bloomington, University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
